Biographical Information

EC is pleased to welcome Cyndi L. Lyden as an Of Counsel member of the firm.  Over the years Cyndi’s practice has encompassed a variety of areas, including partnership and business litigation, employment matters, contract disputes, collection matters, real estate and landlord tenant disputes, personal injury, protective proceedings and probate litigation. She is also experienced at handling alternative dispute resolution processes such as arbitration, special master proceedings, and mediation. Her experience in these areas, in addition to her personal experience serving as a financial power of attorney and guardian for a family member, influences her current fiduciary work in trust and estate matters as well as guardian and conservatorship proceedings.

In addition to Cyndi's involvement in court proceedings, she also acts as a fiduciary for people who, because of age, illness, minority status or other incapacity, cannot act in their own best interests. Cyndi works not only with families who want to resolve care and capacity issues on a private basis but has also served as Deputy Public Administrator for the 18th Judicial District of the State of Colorado since 2002. Whether privately engaged or appointed by the Court, Cyndi represents the interests of at risk or incapacitated persons in protective proceedings and works collaboratively with family members and service agencies. Cyndi makes home visits, carefully interviews caregivers and medical providers, meets with financial and investment representatives, and reviews relevant medical, financial and legal documents, applying her extensive legal background, personal experience, and professional integrity with every client.

Whether appointed by the Court or representing an individual, family member or professional, Cyndi sees her role not only as an advocate for her client, but often as a counselor. In these often emotional situations, Cyndi fills the need for someone who not only knows the system, but is also a compassionate, yet confident, decision-maker.
