John’s tireless efforts to save Hentzell Park in Denver earned him the rarely presented President’s award from the Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation. Benson & Case helped a grass-roots parks group, Friends of Denver Parks, challenge the city’s decision to transfer 11 acres of open space in the Cherry Creek corridor in exchange for an office building downtown. Though the property was officially designated as a “natural area”, Denver Parks and Rec withdrew the designation.
